Looking After the Health of the Seychelles' unique bird species
05/12/24
All good things must come to an end. After a month of intensive work in the autumn, catching and sampling hundreds of birds in the Seychelles and building the capacity of local staff to test and treat birds in the future, avian vet Johanna Storm is back in the UK while we wait for the test results. These can be used to help design a disease surveillance strategy, to help protect the islands' unique species from health threats.
We are all incredibly grateful for the wonderful support Johanna received throughout her mission from every island she visited. A truly heartfelt thank you goes to the Cousine Island Seychelles conservation team, Fregate Island Foundation, ICS Seychelles, Nature Seychelles and the Seychelles Islands Foundation - SIF for all your help in facilitating Johanna’s work, for your ample and well-coordinated logistical support and for your more than generous hospitality!
